During the studio back lot foot chase Michael hides out in a costume storage room. The pan which ultimately reveals the rabbit costume he will wear also includes the mask of The Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz (1939). Michael Jackson starred as The Scarecrow in The Wiz (1978) - the 70s musical version of the same story.
